Advanced Manufacturing
National Manufacturing Institute Scotland
The National Manufacturing Institute Scotland Industry Doctorate Programme (NMIS-IDP) in Advanced Manufacturing is a key and integral part of the NMIS Manufacturing Skills Academy with 30 industry sponsored PhD awards being launched during 2018/19.
The National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS) is an industry-led international centre of manufacturing expertise. It aims to make Scotland and the UK a global leader in advanced manufacturing. Industry, academia and public-sector support bodies will work together to transform skills, productivity and innovation in the sector.
In delivering the NMIS Industry Doctorate Programme as part of the NMIS Manufacturing Skills Academy SRPe works closely with our key industry and government agency stakeholders to deliver industry doctorate projects designed specifically around industry needs. The programme is delivered in collaboration with the advanced manufacturing industry community involving OEMs, SMEs and other supply-chain partners.

Through the Energy Industry Doctorate Programme, ETP supports the energy sector with the skills it needs to maximise industrial growth opportunities. Since ETP’s launch 10 years ago it has supported 107 PhD projects.

NMIS-CPD Portfolio in Manufacturing Technology and Leadership
The NMIS-CPD Portfolio in Manufacturing Technology and Leadership is delivered by SRPe as part of the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland’s Manufacturing Skills Academy.

The NMIS-CPD portfolio delivered by SRPe is designed specifically to meet industry needs, particularly SME’s, and is targeted at industry senior executives and technical leaders.
Our CPD modules are delivered across Scotland, hosted by the SRPe universities and in collaboration with the advanced manufacturing industry community (involving OEMs, SMEs and other supply-chain partners) and public sector organisations.
The portfolio provides CPD modules in leadership and manufacturing technology to industry providing an introduction to the digital transformation of manufacturing and the opportunities and benefits that digital manufacturing presents on operational excellence, supply chain performance, the circular economy, manufacturing management, innovation and technology in the digital age.
